Throwing on the Wheel with Peter Johnson

Service Description

This 2 hr workshop is a great opportunity to learn some wheel throwing tips and tricks from our very knowlegable club member Peter Johnson. Peter trained as a production potter in the 70s. Influenced since by many NZ and overseas potters. Throughout the years he's built many wood fired kilns, tutored at various pottery schools and held weekend workshops all around the country. This 2hr workshop is aimed at giving the beginner a clear understanding about some of the techniques for throwing on the wheel and a technique called "throwing off the hump" . Peter will demonstate these skills and guide you in the forming your own pieces. This workshop is mostly focused on the practical learning of forming pots, the club will fire your pieces for you to be collected at a later date. MCP is currently running under red - Covid vaccine pass required for veiwing.
