Service Description
This course is for MCP members only. If you thought the options were limitless in what one can create with clay, well that is increased exponentially when you add the possibilities offered in the world of glaze and glazing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with commercial glazes - they are reliable and come in amazing colours. BUT if you want to learn a bit more about glazes and glazing - playing with various elements of glazing, clay bodies in combination with glazes, what glazes for what kind of firing and making glazes from scratch then this could be the introduction to glazing for you. This three week short course cannot cover everything there is to know about glazing, but it will give you some structure to start your journey with. It will cover some basic glazing concepts, help you think about what you need to put into a glaze in what proportions for what effects and look at how to diagnose and avoid some common glaze problems. Participants will have homework (and pre course homework - promise it won't be difficult but will help maximise the short time we have together). All materials are included in the course fee. Course held at the MCP club rooms.
