Service Description

Join us for an evening with visiting potter Samantha Elise, who will discuss her creative process, share recent wood-fired work from Darryl Frost’s Fast Fire kiln in Tasman, and give a wheel-throwing demonstration. Originally from Ōtautahi Christchurch, Samantha works in wheel-thrown functional ware, with a practice grounded in form refinement and glaze development. While she began in electric oxidation firing, she is now expanding into reduction atmospheres, investigating the effects of salt and ash in wood kilns through mentorship and technical research, and examining how material and atmosphere shape surface and character.
